Assignment 5-1

My weekly analysis this week is The Secret Life of the American Teenager is a show that has become a nation’s favorite to watch on ABC Family channel. This show is coming into its third season about a fifteen-year-old girl named Amy that got pregnant after having sex for the first time with a bad boy named Ricky that she goes to school with. She did not tell her parents that she was pregnant until she was like three or four months along. In the series, she meets a shy boy named Ben that fell in love with her at first sight. Ben’s friends Alice and Henry are telling him to ask Amy out but are hearing rumors from Amy’s friends that she is pregnant. Amy finally comes out and tells everyone that she is pregnant and that Ricky is the dad not her boyfriend Ben. Her parents decide that they want a divorce because her dad was cheating on her mom will a fellow classmates mom. In this series, they are trying to get teens and parents to talk to one another about sex because some parents do not know that their teens are having sex and some teens are too afraid to talk to parents about sex. This show is showing how hard being a pregnant teenager and mother is. Amy tries to figure out if she can keep her baby or if she has to put it up for adoption. Her mom and she decide to put the baby up for adoption and find suitable parents for the baby but the parents become foster parents to six kids so they back out of the deal. With that happening that forces Amy to decide that she wants to keep the baby but she has to find a job to help support the baby. There aren’t many jobs out there for a fifteen year old to do so her friends at school help her out by getting her a job at the church daycare teaching the kids music in return she gets child care while in school. In this season, Amy is struggling with school, work and being a mom, that she is feeling like she is missing a normal life. Her mom is pregnant with her boyfriend’s child and her dad and sister are living in the house next door. She does have the support and help of Ricky the baby’s father and her boyfriend.
I believe that if teens watch this program then they might learn something from it that having sex even for the first time can lead into pregnancy. That they should talk to their parents about having sex or wanting to have sex.

Assignment 4-1

My weekly analysis this week is about Dog the Bounty Hunter. A & E Television first aired the show in 2004 about a bounty hunter name Dog and his family. In each episode, Dog and his family go out in Hawaii to find bail jumpers that is not reporting in for court dates that they wrote bails on. Sometimes the family heads to Colorado where they have friends that are bail bondsmen too. They go to Colorado and help their friends catch their bail jumpers too.
I personally think that what they do is very risky because as they say you do not know how the person is going to react when you come to take them to jail. Some of the people that they do go after are very harsh criminals that have very long records on them. Dog and his family do not have a clean background but they all have had what they call second chances in life and have become very successful people.
This show has become very popular with people that like to watch live action shows and see people out in the worked trying to make a difference. I know that personally, I would like to be doing something like what Dog and his family are doing which is stopping criminals and putting them in jail.

Assignment 3-1

The show I choose for my weekly analysis is Saving Grace. TNT aired the show in 2007 about a detective that sees her last chance angel named Earl. This show has become a success and is coming up on its third season.
The plot focuses on Grace Anadarko a smoking, heavy drinking, and promiscuous Oklahoma City detective. In the series opener, Grace meets up with her last chance angel, when after one of her drinking binges she runs down and kills a pedestrian with her porsche (Turner Broadcasting System, 2009). In desperation, she calls out for God's help, and a scruffy, tobacco-spitting man who calls himself Earl appears. Earl reveals he is an angel and tells her that she is heading for hell. He asks if she is ready to turn her life over to God. The accident seems only to be a dream to Grace because when she wakes up everything is the same as an ordinary day. There was evidence left of her dream which was a small amount of the victim's blood on her blouse, which she brings to her best friend, forensics expert Rhetta Rodriguez, to analyze (Turner Broadcasting System, 2009). With Rhetta's help, Grace discovers that her accident victim is actually an inmate on death row, Leon Cooley who is also getting visits by Earl on a regular basis (Turner Broadcasting System, 2009). Who is telling him about Grace and that they can help each other. Grace investigates homicides and other major crimes with the fellow officers in her squad, including Ham Butch Bobby and Captain Kate (Turner Broadcasting System, 2009). Earl appears to Grace throughout the series, hoping she will turn away from her self-destructive tendencies and seek God's help (Turner Broadcasting System, 2009).
Cast includes Holly Hunter, Leon Rippy, Laura San Giacomo, Bokeem Woodbine, Dylan Minnette, Kenny Johnson, Bailey Chase, Gregory Cruz, and Lorraine Toussaint.

assignment 2-1

The band All-American Rejects is a rock band from Stillwater, Oklahoma that was formed in 2001. They have had three hit albums since 2002 that have sold over millions of copies along with a couple hit singles.They are a very popular group with the music industry. Their band consists of Tyson Ritter, Nick Wheeler, Mike Kennerty and Chris Gaylor.

Some of their hit songs are: "Swing, Swing", "It ends tonight", "Dirty little secret", "Move along" and their latest hit " Gives you hell".

Most people don't care for their music because its rock, but I like their style. I have to really listen to the lyrics of their songs to understand what they are saying but they are a great band. I personally like the songs "Dirty little secret" and "Gives you hell".

Assignment 2-2

Disney princesses are little girls' dreams. Little girls dream of becoming one or not all of these princesses growing up. Spiderman is little boys' hero growing up because he can fly on his spider web and save the day. NCIS is a television show that is aired on CBS that is about Navy Examiners.

Each one of these pictures have meaning to me and that's why I have chosen them. My daughter and I love the Disney princesses and watch all the movies. Spiderman is my son's favorite superhero and we have all three movies. NCIS is my favorite show and I hope that one day I can be a fraud examiner.

My daughter has believed that she is Cinderella and that one day her prince charming is going to come and take her to his castle. Of course, I told her that might never happen but that she is my Cinderella no matter what happens. My son got hooked on Spiderman when my daughter picked out a toothbrush for him that had the character on it. It has been Spiderman this and that for the last two years. When I think the faze is dying down for him and then all of a sudden its back on again. NCIS is a show that my dad and I watched ever since it aired and I have been hooked ever since. I like the fact that people can solve case by evidence and I just want to be able to do that someday.

Assignment 1-2

Popular culture to me is what you wear, eat, drink, think, and watch. Even if you try to avoid it there is still a chance that something you like was once a trend in popular culture. It doesn't matter if it was your favorite restaurant or the brand of clothing you wear. It also could be the movie or television show that you like and even can come down to your favorite book. Popular culture is everywhere in the world.
I fell in love with the twilight series books and now all my friends and family love reading them. I do have to admit that it came from a preview of the movie that caught my eye from another movie that I own and was watching. I had to do some research on the film and found out that it was being made from a book. When I looked up on the Internet about the book I found that it was a series, so I had to go to the store and by them. I read them and was instantly hooked.
